I'm building a more 'modern' flash cart for the GB. The question is, would you prefer it USB like a Drag'n'Derp? or SD card based like an Everdrive?
SRAM will be 128k to satisfy the LSDJ folk, what is the maximum ROM size you would like it to support?
4Mbytes is the most cost effictive, this would cover 99% of GB/GBC games.
The cart price is targeted at $50 but hopefully strong support will bring the price down.
Let me know your thoughts!
sd, if it keeps the price down, otherwise usb would be ideal for me :-)
How many games would you be able to fit on it if it is using usb? if its more than 10 I’d prefer it over sd card.
I’ve been wanting to get a GB/GBC Flash cartridge for some time now. I’ve held off buying the Everdrive in anticipation of the one mentioned on this site. I’m OK with continuing to wait…but PLEASE give us some idea of the status of this project.
Thanks,
Stephen
Definitely SD card. Much more versatile, you can even use a phone to move files. Also (AFAIK) easier to make?
Following up on Eidis’ suggestion, I also think that DRAM is a good solution as a SRAM substitute, of course only if the parallel interface is cost-effective enough to make.
In either case, as long as the loading times are up to 30 sec, I don’t think there’s a problem for most users.
Keep up the good work! :)
SD might be better Really looking forward to this. I’m hoping price is 30-40$.
