I'm building a more 'modern' flash cart for the GB. The question is, would you prefer it USB like a Drag'n'Derp? or SD card based like an Everdrive?
SRAM will be 128k to satisfy the LSDJ folk, what is the maximum ROM size you would like it to support?
4Mbytes is the most cost effictive, this would cover 99% of GB/GBC games.
The cart price is targeted at $50 but hopefully strong support will bring the price down.
Let me know your thoughts!
Just found out about you today, searching for a Everdrive. But your project looks much more promising.
I just want to be able to play all Pokemon GB/GBC including hacks of the game. So RTC battery would be important.
I prefer SD cards, because they are so cheap and i am using them on other devices already, which means no extra cables lying around. But if it dosnt make the divice much more expanive or if it has some advantage over SD ,USB would be fine too.
Does 4MB mean all games from http://www.ladecadence.net/trastero/listado%20juegos%20gameboy.html work that are 2048KB or smaller? I can find only one game on that list that is 8192KB.
Are there any well known games that have 8MB size?
USB would be great as far as everything else I would be happy with whatever brings the cost down. At $50 or less I would buy more than one for sure. Thank you for all your hard work!
Whatever keeps things cheaper. USB may be less complicated.
Hello, can you make sure it will support versus mode with link cable without needing to patch the rom etc ?
Thanks
USB seems nicer. I use the EZ FLASH with the micro SD.
It feels like an unneeded middle man.
I’m not sure how my backups are but I think the main games I play such as Advance Wars/Fire Emblem are a little bigger than 4Mbytes. Unless I understood that wrong, I think it wouldn’t serve 100% of my purposes. But still would be worth purchasing for the sake of some other games.
